[gardeners] Hyacinth Question

Hello folks,

I have a question... On 12/6 I planted about 30 hyacinth bulbs in
various flower boxes, pots, containers etc., watered them down once and
put them in my cold, dark garage.

Today, I looked at them and gave them another drink of water. All of the
bulbs have about 1 inch of foliage popping up from the centers.

Now, my plan was to bring them in the house on 2/14, cover them with
black garbage bags for about one week and then expose them to sunshine.

Is this right?

Also, I have two window boxes, each filled with about 5 bulbs. Would it
be feasible for me to separate the bulbs after I bring them in the
house? I would really like to divide these bulbs into separate flower
pots and use them for gift giving to some of my friends. Would the roots
be too intermingled to do this now?

What is your advice?

Thanks..
Leslie
