I stole this from another list.
Thought is was in line to pass on..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I picked up a copy of "Garden Ideas & Outdoor Living" (page 15) today
while I was out and found something rather interesting.  Thought some of
you might like to know ....
(Number of calories burned in 30 min)
Digging & Spading is a great work out for the upper body, back and legs.
Women burn 150 and men 197.
Mowing the lawn, a work out for the whole body (guess they don't mean if
you mow with a tractor <G>).  Women burn 181 and men 236.
Planting transplants, shrubs and trees is a workout for the whole body
and burns 135 calories for women and 177 for men.
Pruning and trimming - workout for hands, shoulders, forearms and upper
back.  Burns 135 for women and 177 for men.
Weeding - a workout for the legs,, hips, buttocks and hamstrings (guess
not if I use my bucket!).  Burns 138 calories for women and 181 for men.
Raking - workout for arms, shoulders, back, hamstrings, and buttocks.
Burns 120 calories for women and 157 for men.
Now, I wonder why it is that men burn more calories than women ... Hmmm,
I'd better not go any further with this one! <LOL>
