Thanks Margaret, I have read most of John's great writings, they are gut busting. I do have a bit of row cover but the zucks would never stay under it. The plants are over 5 ft across (almost a squashoid) and my rowcovers are only 54 inches across, as in the stuff doesn't touch the ground on the edges. I picked my first giant grasshopper (actually caught him this time) and sent him to the great beyond. I much prefer to get them when they are little black baby grasshoppers.
