Picked about 10 lbs of cukes today along with half a dozen eggplant, a dozen
sweet chiles, another dozen tomatoes, mostly Heatwave II and Yellow Bell, and
enough figs to make a couple of pints of fig preserves. Still have the bushel of
pears sitting on the kitchen floor so looks like the coming week will be putting
up pears and pickles. Running low on sweet pickles so that will be first. Bought
4 lbs of cinnamon red hot candies yesterday so reckon I'll make a mess of red
hot pear halves, some with creme de menthe, and make pear sauce with the rest.
Luckily our friends trees are producing mass quantities this year so we'll
probably get another batch to make into pear butter.

Another friend is dropping off all of his red chiles. If he has red 'uns we get
them, he really likes my hot sauce evidently.

Off to see the cardiologist at the VAMC tomorrow. Here's where we find out if
his theory on the cause of my high blood pressure is right, I get new meds
tomorrow. If he can drop the top number down below 160 I will be happy, that
would be about 45 points lower than it is now. Sure hope all these 5 hour trips
to the VA stop soon, I need the time to put up our burgeoning harvest.

Life is good.
