I have to tell you re: worldwide airport security. My sister spent 7 years 
in Saudi and in the UAE. She and her husband are microbioligists and avid 
mountain climbers. They have climbed all over the world and have been in 
every major airport in the world. Sharyn carries a pocket knife on her 
keychain, in her carry-on, and in her onboard luggage. The ONLY country 
that took those away from her was Saudi Arabia. And, at that, only took 
them, gave them to the steward, who returned them upon landing.
