I have planted some day lilies in a spot along the sidewalk, and there is a lot of buckshot gravel around the plants. I dug a large hole in the buckshot gravel hillside, and put in a substantial amount of rich garden soil, before I planted the lily plant, but I am concerned about the wet buckshot gravel soaking into the soil, and causing a more alkaline soil, over a 2 year period. Would it be a good "just in case" plan, to use some fertilizer which is for acid loving plants, on these plants with buckshot gravel all around them?
