[gardeners] growing clematis from seeds

Does anyone have first hand experience or info about germinating clematis
seed? I stopped along the highway the other day and gathered some seed from
c. ligusticifolia that grows wild along a creek. I also have some seed
maturing on my alpinas and my Niobe that I would like to try to start. I'm
also hoping to find some seed c. occidentalis around the place and try to
get that growing where I want it and it won't get damaged.
