Anne, altho we're 20 miles out of the city, we did have a
family of mother and 6 chicks cross our lawn last year,
reach the curb, and stop. Did not recognize what on earth
those fowl could be ... the momma took off to cross the
street, not paying any attention to the babies, and so they
hopped down off our lawn, and scrambled quickly for the
lawn on the other side.

A number of weeks later, 6 big, fat, strange looking fowl
crossed our back yard, stopping occasionally to pick at
something in the grass. We were transfixed! We were
later advised by Good Ole' George that they had been
wild turkeys.

I wonder if these were what the Pilgrims had for their
first Thanksgiving...?
