CA., and we had a Spring shower last night to freshen things up. I have snow peas blooming, sugar snap peas not far behind, garlic and onions have taken hold and look good, the yellow and green zucchinis seem happy, the tomatoes are growing and I can't wait to plant out more! This year we are also planting 45 heirloom tomatoes at an allotment plot/community garden and some Winter-long season squash like Zappallo. My 8 raised beds were just too small to plant all the tomatoes I wanted without dreadful crowing so we branched out. They have dreadful gopher and deer problems, so this will be a challenge. I am forming 12" X 12" aviary wire baskets and hope this will take care of the gophers. We will put up a deer fence around the plot as well. I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel after my back surgery 5 months ago!!!! This is a good thing as I really hate just pointing for my hubby, Dr. Dirt. LOL He commutes weekly to Chicago from SF Bay Area so his time is quite limited in the garden, and I can't seem to train the dawg to help. However, she does pick and eat ripe tomatoes.
