The Snow Peas are winding down, but the Sugar Snap Peas are still producing which is amazing in the heat of late. 98 deg F, 102 deg F, and today probably mid 90's. At least it is not humid, but nonetheless I am wilting. Planted out 35 heirloom tomatoes at the allotment, but 8 keeled over in the winds and then the heat. I guess they weren't hardened off quite enough. Even a couple of the 3' plant is sunburned and it has been in the greenhouse for 2 months with a lot of sun. We put plastic around the fencing to ward off some of the direct canyon wind. Planted out quite a few chiles and eggplants. We'll plant some shell beans and Zuchetta, and maybe some Armenian cucumbers as well. I plant all the cherry tomatoes, some reg. tomatoes, herbs, French fillets, squash, carrots, radishes, onions, and many chiles at home in raised beds. Also potatoes are home. Planted in heavy gopher wire baskets to ward off thieving gophers. Fence hopefully will keep the 2 and 4 legged deer/dears away.
