[gardeners] carpets

I don't think tile is any colder (with well insulated house) than carpet or any
more dangerous. It's easier to clean. We are sticking with wood or similar
because we like it and it's easier to install and because I don't think my
kitchen floor will necessarily take tile and concrete board underlay and
because it takes forever to special order it.

Everyone told me how dangerous it would be to remove the carpet from my
stairs. I tripped on it continuously and nearly did myself in on several
occasions; I have never slipped on the hardwood. I have a double hip
replacement and am oversensitive to flooring: I'd take tile or hardwood any
day over the broadloom. We do have good oriental rugs but I never trip on
these either.
