Lazy dawg reminds me of my old dog "Tackle" who sadly left me last week after 14 faithful years. There was much sadness in the house. The = one consolation is that I have his daughter here who looks identical except = here spots are a black brindle and Tackles were a dark brown brindle. I will = mate her with a nice dog in the city and hopefully get a baby Tackle. I miss him, he went every where with me from the day he was old enough to leave = his mother and never had an aggressive bone in his body unless someone or something threatened him or his family(us). Then he transformed into a different dog. Even so he never had a kill instinct, he would just = disable and hold the aggressor so that he couldn't hurt him or anyone else. He actually seemed to abhor violence so much so he was nicknamed the = "sheriff", coz he always seemed to be there to control the situation. Bloody lazy = when it came to rabbits though, they weren't hurting him and he didn't like veggies that much so he didn't mind if they shared my veggie patch. I've seen them hop past while he was asleep on the lawn and all he would do = is open one eye and check em out then just go back to sleep. He used to = sleep in the chicken pen, not bad for a supposedly savage pitbull/bull mastiff = X. I killed a 40 inch dugite (West Oz Snake, very deadly) in the chicken = pen in one of my breeder pens) a couple of days ago. I was wondering why = there were no eggs coming from them , and now I know why. I have had an egg = each day since from them. I haven't been bitten by any snakes yet (touch = wood) but we have plenty, the old timers are saying its going to be a hot summer as there are so many snakes about. Dugites, gwarders, Southern Death Adders, Western Browns, Tigers and a few pythons although you dont see the pythons much. Whereabouts in Louisiana do you live are you in the countryside now or = still in town. We are 50 miles north of Perth the capital of West Oz. They call our = climate Mediterranean but I dont think it gets as hot there. I have 5 varieties of chicken, Rhode Island Red, Light Sussex, = Coronation Sussex, White Leghorn, and New Hampshire and really 6+varieties as I = have mongrels as well,They are just crossed, mixed, farmyard hens and = roosters and some bantams as well. As if on cue Tackles daughter (Elsie Olive) and Jackie (our female Jack Russell, the real rabbiter)) just walked into the office and plonked = themselves down to get out of our West Oz heat. Its 11am and about 85 degrees. We have an 8-9 month growing season here and I have a greenhouse for the other 2-3 months. I = did leave Orange Habenaros and Firefly outside this winter with no ill = effects. The Veggie garden is at its best in winter for cabbages and stuff like = that the summer is a bit hot for then sometimes. We have pigs when I want to develop some new ground. They are the best = of the lot for that, Rooting around and fertilizing the soil. Then I follow with chickens to clear out any weeds then I plant and you should see = things grow. . Must go and do some more work I have many chillies to pot up and many = more to tend in my huge garden. I just ploughed up another 3/4 of an acre to plant chillies for my sauces.=20 We have an 8-9 month growing season here and I have a greenhouse for the = other 3 months.
