Ref transplanting seedlings deeper, I think that only works with some veggies. I know from experience that it works with tomatoes (and it's a frequent tip in garden guides.) Some types of plants would probably be harmed by having too much of their stems buried. Happy gardening! - Anna V. in Zone 9
