"Garden variety" morning glories (an annual) and bindweed (a perennial) are
related but very different when it comes to "pest quotient". Bindweed is a
*serious* problem. Since bindweed spreads by roots, as well as by seed,
picking the blossoms to prevent seed formation is not going to take care of
the problem.
