AAARGH! I forgot to change the address after hitting reply... >- -> cEven if I ate meat all the time, I'd still eat >- -> tons of tofu, because, like you, I think it's got a bad rap. It's actually very >- -> tasty, and as it absorbs the flavours of what it's cooked with, it outta be a >- -> major food group for CHs. Not to mention how beneficial soy is to us humans. I >Yes indeed. Ever tried it homemade? it's absolutely delicious. And >it's done wonders for some physical problems I have. The stuff I've tried tasted... brown. A sort of disconnected, mousecage flavour, without any back flavour you could build on. Maybe it was really terrible tofu I had. Was it? >- -> also didn't understand why he said lentils were fattening. >Me either, but maybe he'll explain? So go look it up! Dry lentils are about 3.4 calories per gram, so if you have 100 grams of the things (about the least you could get away with as the basis for a meal), you're already up for 350 calories! On the other hand, mushrooms are only 0.22 calories per gram, so for the same number of calories, you could eat a kilo and a half of the things! Like I said, I'm keeping under 1000 calories a day, so such things really start to matter... jbc
