> Well, my Fatalis finally ripened. Beautiful little suckers they are, too, > all brilliant gold, crinkly, and pointed. I had reported this earlier, but my Fatali chiles also ended up brilliantly gold, crinkly, and pointed. They are about 3" long. However, mine are quite pungent -- definitely considerably more pungent than an average habanero. > The aroma was very hab-like, except more so, but its fruitiness didn't > seem to carry over into the taste. My Fatali fruits have a very strong hab-type aroma and flavor, stronger than an average habanero, and that flavor persists in both raw (e.g. salsa, vinegar dip) and cooked (e.g., curry, jerk) preparations at least as strongly as an average habanero. I can't say these Fatali are better than a good Scotch Bonnet (except being hotter), but they do definitely seem superior to me in every regard compared to an average habanero. They also seem to have productivity comparable with an average habanero, and appear somewhat more willing to continue producing on into Fall's cool weather, though jury is still out on this aspect. My plants were purchased from Cross-Country Nursery. So, presuming next year they use the same source of Fatali seeds as this year, I can recommend buying Fatali plants from Cross-Country Nursery. --- Brent
