Hybridizers never give away their "Trade Secrets" My guess is that it's probably a New Mexico or Anaheim descendent. It's listed as a Romitel type but I don't know what a Romitel is. Here's the description from the hybridizer's catalog: "Garden Salsa pepper is the perfect variety for homemade salsa with just the right amount of "heat". Garden Salsa is hot enough, without being too hot, but the fruit still provide plenty of kick. This hybrid matures medium-early, about 73 days from transplants to the first harvest of long, 7 to 8 inches by 1 inch wide, beautifully shaped green fruit. Fruit are quite smooth with medium-thick walls tapering to a point. They turn from green to red at full maturity, with a medium pungency rating of about 3,000 Scovilles. Plants of Garden Salsa are quite large, along with their resistance to Toblamo Po virus, they have the ability to set heavy loads of fruit." It's one of the few hybrids which I sell. I think it's a really nice pepper.
