Dear Jim, I noted several recipes already sent for feijoada, the national dish of Brazil. I'd recommend an easy "beans and meat" feijoada, sent to school in a crockpot. Set on low....it'll keep all day. Here's a very easy one from Southernfoods.about.com Feijoada 1 lb Dried black beans 1 lb Beef stew meat, cubed 3/4 lb Link sausage, 3/4-1 lb, sliced Salt and pepper to taste 1 Onion, chopped Soak beans overnight. Pour beans and water into crockpot. Brown beef and sausage. Drain excess fat. Stir all ingredients into beans in crockpot. Cook on low for 6-10 hours. Check occasionally and add water if necessary. Serve with rice.
