Prost, Now your talking.. Erich, FYI in home brewing there is liquid yeast from Weihenstephaner, Y yeast, They had 12 different strains of German types. Reinheitsgbot, best law ever past.. I'll drink to that.. and to Pilsner Urquell,, "The Beer of Kings" Most American microbrews also follow that law.. Still nothing like a a homebrew that you can make with a "Nose" hops, let it age for 6 months. L.B. >Tucker > Your mentioning weiss beer got to me ... > I had to break out my remaining bottle of Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse. > "The classic, naturally cloudy Munich wheat malt. Although I can do a Hacker Pschorr (sp?) weiss if it's on tap (it's no Dunkel, but in a pinch...). Franziskaner Dunkel Weiss is probably my favorite beer over all; and I even know of one German beer and brat place in Northern WI that has it on tap!!! First time I went there my jaw just about hit the floor, ... of course the tap was out of order, so that was followed by my forehead hitting the table. But the next trip up all was well. In fact, to be on topic, there's a pretty decent hot shop just a short walk from there. Maybe I'll try the Hefe one of these days, just to see if I can stomach it. Our local (sort of) booze and wine shop carries the Hefe in six packs of the small bottles (12 oz.?), but they don't stock the Dunkel in anything other than the pint bottles. With all the German blood flowing around these parts you'd think somebody.... Aw well, I won't get started on that again. ;-))) Ever tried Weihenstephaner or Kostritzer?
