Madison: I'm staring at a glass jar I pulled from my refrigerator. The label says Nalley barrel cured hamburger dill chips. Ingredients listed are cucumbers, water, vinegar, salt, turmeric, paprika, and spice? Who knows what spice they are talking about? I'm not a sweet pickle lover by any means, but I wouldn't turn one down in a dark alley. I love dill pickles Madison and these don't have an ounce of dill in them ;0). I just ate a few of them and they are pretty damned sour. I think it's time to drop a couple of barrel cured habs in this jar...Ian -----Original Message----- From: owner-chile-heads@globalgarden.com [mailto:owner-chile-heads@globalgarden.com] On Behalf Of madison Sent: Friday, June 27, 2003 3:44 PM To: enkantare@mindspring.com; Chile-Heads@globalgarden.com Subject: Re: [email] Re: [CH] sour pickles Well I used to think that too. Then I took a bite of home made dill pickles. Nasty..Tasted like dill weed. Not sour at all. Since then I have stayed away from home made dill pickles. That is why is say sour. The vinegar may be the key. ----- Original Message ----- From: <enkantare@mindspring.com> To: <Chile-Heads@globalgarden.com> Sent: Friday, June 27, 2003 5:03 PM Subject: [email] Re: [CH] sour pickles > are sour and dill not one in the same? i believe you can adjust the > amount (and probably type) of vinegar to attain the "sourness" you > are looking for ... ive never really pickled.. but my mother and aunt > have and thats what they always did... > > Woody > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "madison" <madisond1@earthlink.net> > To: <Chile-Heads@globalgarden.com> > Sent: Friday, June 27, 2003 5:50 PM > Subject: [CH] sour pickles > > > > Hello.
