That's a problem. I've found they never seem to set fruit their first year, just flower. Have to bring them inside for the winter and try again their second year. Also, many (all?) of them are supposed to be self-incompatible, so need to cross-pollinate with another plant. I've had one year with great fruit set, but not always.... maybe they have mysterious cycles like oaks and bamboos, where they decide that this is the year to go for it.... Some rocoto trees in the mists of the Bolivian Andes are as tall as ten men, and as big around as Mama Cass, all covered in dark, wrinkly bark, lichens and mosses, and are said to date from the Inca times, before the Spaniards. (not really, but nice thought, no?). > I have yet to have a rocoto set fruit, plenty > of blooms > just no fruit.
