hi folks, ok ... call me naive. but i was wondering ... if pure capsaicin ( ORC, oleo resin capsicum) is added to a food product, what labelling disclosure is required by the FDA? for instance, if a sauce manufacturer decides to "crank up" the heat level of a hot sauce by adding ORC, is that food processor required to show the addition in the list of ingredients? or does a sauce, which contains added ORC, simply show "chilies" in the ingredient list? up here in the chile-deprived wilds of canada, we don't see as many bottled sauces (as available in the USA ). ergo, fewer labels to compare. regards peter g
