Gayle, the best part of Mother's Day for me was reaching
home without an accident after 3 hours' drive down to
Pennsylvania yesterday, and another 3 hrs back today,
all thru torrential rain and spray. There was so much water
on the roadway that it looked as if we were trying to drive
thru a tsunami (tidal wave), because we certainly could not
make out all the cars around us!

The rain has beaten down most of the flamboyant azalea
bloom, but it has made the lawn look like something out of
Hollywood ... and my old jalopy, sitting in the garage since
Friday loaded with my new caladiums, a chenille plant,
astilbes, brachycomes and the other stuff, darkness and all,
has survived without any show of distress! They advised me
to unload the car onto the driveway while I am away, but I was
afraid of the heavy rain and high winds, so I did not do it. Now
I thank Heaven that I did not..

Penny, NY zone 6
