[gardeners] Rain and hummingbirds

It's still raining here, lightly at times and torrential downpours after
that. No let up in sight for next few days according to local weatherman.
What's amazing is seeing the hummers flitting about in a heavy rain coming
to the feeders. Rain had stopped for a few minutes and we had 6 or 8 (hard
to tell they fly so fast) fighting over the feeder nearest the patio door.
Looked to be a mix of young male and female ruby throats. Rain started up
again and they were landing on the hanging baskets under the eaves of the
house and one even got under a leaf on a papaya tree I have growing in a
large nursery pot. Almost like someone using an umbrella. Such sights sure
make a long, boring day go quicker.

Garden is rapidly becoming waterlogged but everything seems to be holding
its own. If and when the rain stops growth is sure to be rapid. Oddly the
okra doesn't seem to be bothered by the lack of sunshine, keeps on producing.

Back to watching the hummingbirds.
