> Just look for the eyes, Vicki. > Pat You know, I kind of figured that this might be the best advice. It probably helps to have good, alert peripheral vision. Probably one good thing is the road from Sisterdale to Fredricksberg is not heavily travelled, so there won't be so many on-coming headlights to distract. Now, all I need to do is to remember how to "look" for snakes. I grew up in Texas and learned at a tender age to keep my eyes scanning the ground while hiking in the outdoors. Here in Western Washington, where I've lived and hiked for the past 35 years, there are no poisonous snakes. A few years ago my cousin from Ft. Worth was here, and I took him on a great hike. About halfway through it, I realized that he was watching every step he took. I pointed out that he could walk and look at the view at the same time here. I'm going to have to relearn his skill. Vicki
