Hi Allen,

Other than buying and transplanting, I have never propagated trees by any
means. Well, I'll take that back. I've started oaks with acorns by just
sticking them in the ground. Is this method of propagating by root
cuttings as simple as it sounds? Just cut a piece of root and stick it in
the soil? What is the best size of root to use? Does it have to be cut a
certain way? Should it be started with a little rooting hormone in a pot
with potting mix or can it be started in the outside soil? When is the
best time to do this? Spring? Anytime? TIA for the lessons!
