Does anyone ever cut back their althea (Rose of Sharon)? Will it branch out at or near the point of the cut? Or just put up more shoots from the roots? I would like to make some of mine thicken up, and be more bush-like, but I've never done any pruning on them, just let them grow however they felt led.
