For the first time ever, I think we may be getting a crop of decent apples from our two trees. I think this may be because an nearby apple tree of unknown variety, which I think cross-pollinated our trees for years and produced very poor, sour apples, is gone; and also because, for the first time, some of our red delicious apples are actually turning red! So, how do I know when they are ripe? This is zone 8 (USDA). Do I just keep going to the tree every few days and grabbing an apple to take a bite from? Thanks, Harry
