[gardeners] Saturday in the kitchen

Got up this morning and started making moussaka to put in the freezer.
Peeled three lbs of eggplant from the garden, sliced, sauted in olive
oil and put on to drain while I cooked the ground meat, onions, garlic,
etc. Longest time is layering the stuff, eggplant, parmesan, meat,
parmesan, eggplant, parmesan, etc. until the pan is full. Meanwhile Miss
Sleepy Dawg is dancing around my feet hoping I will drop some eggplant
which she dearly loves, particularly if it's deep fried with a batter on
it. Strange little dog, turns up her nose at raw meat but loves cooked
meat, will eat raw or cooked vegetables, particularly carrots or green
beans, likes crowder peas cooked but won't touch tomatoes or cukes. Vet
says it won't hurt her but just don't let her eat onions or chocolate.

Got to go out there and check for cukes ready to pick, was walking
around in the moonlight last night and picked several that were on the
outside of the netting, now to look inside. Got the urge to make some
sweet pickle relish so reckon I'll go buy a few big, red sweet bells to
add a little color and I'm out of onions so some of those too.

Life is good.
