If it tastes good, eat it. OK.... Well, if they don't digest slower, they still fill up volume, making me un-hungry sooner, therefore making the chile last longer. And, for the record, my chile does have meat - it's not substituting beans and potatoes for meat, but supplementing meat with beans and potatoes. In addition to the volume they take up, the starch should convert to sugar more quickly, thus inducing the brain to send that 'I'm full' signal sooner - even moreso for me, as I am mildly hypoglycemic. Also, that lets you make the chile runnier, which both makes it last longer and allows you to soak peanut butter bread in the chile. mmmmmmmmmm. I think I'll make some tonight...
