Funny you should ask...I found some violets blooming yesterday morning,
right next to the concrete step on the south side of the house. We've had
about 2 weeks of really warm and sunny weather up here. The snow is gone
and I've been out romping around in my shirtsleeves for the last few days!
It's hard to believe it's still February. This is normally the season for
winter events, it's usually the snowiest and coldest time of the year, but
just about everything has been cancelled for lack of snow. I hear they
trucked in snow for a snowmobile race somewhere north of here.

All my instincts are telling me to get digging. I probably could in spots,
the ground is dry enough. But then I think, nah....plenty of time. :-)

There was some excitement around here last night when one of the ice
fishermen found a soft spot on the bay and went through. I'm told the ice
is thinning at the rate of 2-3 inches a day. He was fine, most of them wear
these fancy suits that keep them warm even if they get wet. He just pulled
himself out of the water and walked home. But he neglected to warn anyone
about his ATV just floating in the water. Someone found it and called the
police. The Search and Rescue team was out there for a couple of hours
before they found out he was alright. Oh well, I needed a night out anyway.
