Gosh, Margaret, our 1st frost comes after Hallowe'en...! For years
and years, we used to spend a week up in Vermont in our trailer,
just for scenic picture taking once the leaves turned their riotous
colors about Oct.12th. It was always wonderful weather -- mild by
day, and delicious for open air sleeping at night.

We've both cured our problem of being locked out of the house,
or of being at the wrong door... We have an iron-bound rule that
our keys must be in our jeans pocket, while gardening. It's
something that we no longer forget... The only exception this
summer has been when I found Jimmie on his arthritic knees,
hand picking small bits of bark out of the vegetable garden
soil, with the weather at 97*, and all he had on his body was
a pair of boxer shorts.

AMOF, I've been on a strict diet for about 3 weeks. The media
reported that a gang of 4 or 5 men had been on a spree in Long
Island, intercepting women, forcing them to disrobe, and
molesting them. Then they forceably stole a car from someone,
and drove up here to within half a mile of my house, where they
kidnapped a woman from her own driveway, made her take all
her clothes off, and by some ruse, she was able to escape,
running to a neighbor's house for help.

Now you see, considering how close they are, if I were put in
this awkward position, there is no way on this earth that I would
run to my neighbor''s house, stark naked, with the body which I
am wearing right now. Therefore, the diet.
