Hello, Penny, and other friends. Artichokes must be picked before they look as if they are about to open, otherwise the only really good usable part is the heart. What do you use to keep those nasty little tiny black beetly bugs out of your chokes. We are on round three this year from the one plant which divided twice since last year into 5 and has produced three crops so far; the fourth is in the wings. The other plant (both globe artichokes) has morphed into six, and it is now resurrecting itself for round three. I think from the two original plants which have died back and regrown, repeatedly, we have had 26 artichokes so far this year. Amazing! Now, the only thing is to find a spray that is not that toxic, but will keep them from being both buggy and from being loaded with what Vivian not so fondly refers to as "bug poop." Ron
